10 districts likely to experience storms with speeds of up to 60 kmph

The Meteorological Department is expecting thunderstorms with speeds of up to 60 kmph over 10 districts of the country.

This was announced in a warning issued for the country’s inland river ports till 6 pm on Tuesday (June 17).

It said that temporary gusty or squally winds of 45 to 60 kmph may blow from the south or southeast over Jessore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts. Along with this, rain or thundershowers may occur.

Therefore, river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall across the country including Dhaka in the next 48 hours. At the same time, due to the active monsoon, warning signal number 3 has been asked to be displayed in the southern coastal and sea areas of the country.
