1 killed in collision between covered van and microbus in Lohagara
A teenager was killed in a head-on collision between a microbus and a mini covered van in Lohagara, Chittagong. Four more members of the same family were injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 2:30 pm today, Wednesday (April 1) in Khan Dighi area of Chunati Union on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.
Witnesses said that an expatriate and his family members were returning to their home in Cox’s Bazar Eidgah from Chittagong Airport after performing Umrah Hajj.
When the microbus reached Chunati area, it collided head-on with a covered van coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the microbus skidded off the road and overturned on the side of the road. Locals rescued the injured and took them to a private hospital in the upazila’s Sadar, where the doctor on duty declared the teenager dead.
Salah Uddin Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said that the vehicles involved in the accident were seized after police were sent to the scene. I have received news of one person’s death. However, the identity of the deceased is not known. I will provide details later.
