Child drowns in pond in Narail

A child named Nusrat (about 4) tragically died after drowning in a pond near her house in Lohagara upazila of Narail. The accident occurred this Sunday (June 28) morning in Haldah village of Naldi union of the upazila. The deceased Nusrat is the daughter of Shahidul Islam (Shahidullah), a school teacher of Haldah village.
Local sources and police said that Nusrat was playing in the yard of her house in the morning. At that time, the family members were busy constructing a new building at home. At one point, the child fell into a pond near the house unnoticed by everyone. After a while, when Nusrat could not be found at home, the family members started searching in different places. At one point, she was rescued floating in a pond near the house.
Later, she was rushed to Narail District Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. Confirming the incident, SI Azizur Rahman, in-charge of Naldi police camp, said that the police visited the scene after receiving information. The body will be handed over to the family after completing the necessary legal procedures. Abu Taleb Molya, a member of Ward No. 5 of Naldi Union, said that the child fell into the pond due to the family’s carelessness, which is a very heartbreaking incident.
