Two brothers drown in pond while visiting their grandparents’ house in Pirojpur

Two brothers drowned in a pond while visiting their grandparents’ house in Pirojpur. The incident took place on Friday (June 19) evening in Bhechki village of Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur. The two brothers are Abdur Rahman (8) and Abdur Rahim (3). They are the sons of Md. Mohsin Mia of Khagrachhari district. They had come from their home in Khagrachhari to visit their grandparents’ house in Bhechki village of Mathbaria.
The family said that yesterday afternoon, the two brothers were playing in the yard of their grandparents’ house. When they were not seen anywhere in the evening, the family members started searching. At one point, they were rescued unconscious from a pond near the house. Later, when they were taken to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared the two children dead.
In this regard, Dr., Resident Medical Officer of Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex, Soumitra Sinha Roy said that when the two children were brought to the Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex, they were declared dead. Initially, it was thought that the two children had drowned.
