Netanyahu expresses deep concerns over US-Iran deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed deep concerns to US President Donald Trump about the upcoming Iran-US deal. The Israeli prime minister has objected to two specific aspects of the deal—the Lebanon clause and the suspension of talks on Iran’s nuclear program. This information was confirmed by Israel’s state broadcaster Kan.
According to Axios, the memorandum of understanding to be signed between the US and Iran includes a provision for extending the ceasefire for 60 days. A specific clause of the agreement proposes a permanent end to the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. However, the agreement states that Israel will have the full right to respond if Hezbollah carries out any provocations or launches new attacks. Netanyahu’s main concern is that the main talks on controlling Iran’s nuclear program, which are mentioned in the agreement, are not starting now. Rather, the parties will sit down to discuss the nuclear issue only after the 60-day ceasefire takes effect. The Israeli prime minister has expressed concern to Trump that not prioritizing Tehran’s nuclear program now and leaving the issue for later discussions could put regional security at grave risk.
