Krishak Dal leader’s body exhumed after 14 months in Lakshmipur
After almost 14 months, the body of Krishak Dal leader Shahadat Hossain Parash has been exhumed from the grave. In the wake of the investigation into the case, the body was exhumed from the family graveyard in Terbeki area of Lakshmipur Municipality at around 11 am today (May 3) on the orders of the court for an autopsy. At that time, Executive Magistrate of Lakshmipur District Administration Hasan Muhammad Nahid Sheikh Suman and Medical Officer of Sadar Hospital Arman Hossain were present. The deceased Shahadat is the son of former Vice-President of District Krishak Dal, late Jalal Uddin and is a resident of Samserabad area of Lakshmipur Municipality.
Executive Magistrate Nahid Sheikh Suman said that Parash died on March 7, 2025 in Zorarganj Mostanagar area of Chittagong. His body was buried in the family graveyard in Lakshmipur without an autopsy the next day. However, on April 9 of the same year, his wife Shefali Begum Shepu filed a criminal case in the Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on charges of murdering him. A friend of his named Mohan was accused in this case. Taking cognizance of the case, the court ordered the body of the deceased to be exhumed from the grave and an autopsy to be performed. She said that the body has been exhumed from the grave and sent to the morgue of Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. The body will be reburied after the autopsy.
Plaintiff Shefali Begum Shepu said that her husband Shahadat Hossain Parash was an expatriate in Oman. He had come to the country on vacation about 8 months before the incident. She was friends with the accused Mohan. Her husband wanted to buy a vacuum machine and stay in the country. On the day of the incident, Parash took Mohan and Parash to Mirsarai in Chittagong on a motorcycle. Later, it was learned that Parash died on the spot in a road accident.
She also said that after receiving the news, my relatives recovered Parash’s body from the Zorarganj Highway Police Station. Then, seeing a knife mark on his stomach, the police asked him to file a case. The next day, his body was brought to Lakshmipur for autopsy and buried. When he went to file a case at Zorarganj police station, they advised him to file a case in court. A case was filed in the court. After embezzling Tk 10 lakh from Parash, he was killed. Mohan has been accused in this incident.
