US-Iran agree to conditional ceasefire

Iran has officially agreed to a two-week temporary ceasefire agreement with the United States. Both countries have agreed to this ceasefire conditionally. Al Jazeera reports that the country’s highest policy-making body, the Supreme National Security Council, gave this consent in a statement.
Iran’s 10-point proposal to advance peace talks with the United States under the mediation of Pakistan has emerged. Iran will discuss these 10 points with the United States in the talks to be held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on April 11. Meanwhile, a statement published in Iran’s Mehr News Agency said that the ceasefire is taking effect with the direct approval of the country’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
It is worth noting that the statement called the agreement a victory for Iran. It also said that after this two-week temporary pause, the next round of talks aimed at a permanent peace agreement will be held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.
