Trump ‘pauses’ Iran strike for two weeks
US President Donald Trump has agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for at least two weeks, bucking the tide of threats to unleash hell on Iran, shortly before the deadline. However, Trump has put a condition behind the ceasefire. Trump said the suspension will only be effective if Iran keeps the Strait of Hormuz fully and safely open to shipping, otherwise the ceasefire will be broken.
Meanwhile, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the US has successfully achieved most of the objectives of its military operation in Iran. Before the ceasefire was announced, several explosions were reported on Kharg Island, known as Iran’s main oil export hub. The country’s semi-official news agency ‘Meher News’ reported this information today.
The president made the decision in the wake of an 11-hour special proposal made by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. “At the special request of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir, I have agreed to postpone a planned devastating attack on Iran for 2 weeks,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
