Grandfather dies after being hit by train while taking grandson to school

A man named Akram Molya (60) was killed after being hit by a train while taking his grandson to school in Lohagara upazila of Narail. The accident occurred on Tuesday (April 7) at around 8 am on the west side of the Madhumoti rail bridge in Purba Char-Kalna area of ​​the upazila. The deceased Akram Molya is the son of the deceased Khalek Molya of Char-Bakjuri village of Lohagara upazila.
According to family sources, he was a victim of river erosion about 30 years ago and started living permanently in Lohagara, Narail with his family. According to local residents and police sources, Akram Molya had left his house this morning as usual to take his grandson Mahim Molya to a local school.
He was returning home on foot along the railway tracks after dropping his grandson to school. On the way, when he reached the Char-Kalna area, he was crushed under the Dhaka-bound ‘Jahanabad Express’ train that left Khulna. His body was cut in two on the spot and he died. Family members of the deceased said that Akram Molya had a slight hearing loss. It is believed that he could not move from the line as he could not hear the sound of the train.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Lohagara Police Station Azizul Talukder said that after receiving the information, the police recovered the body from the scene. Since the accident site is under the jurisdiction of the Railway Police, the matter has been reported to the concerned Railway Police. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Abdur Rahman confirmed the truth of the incident and said, ‘The body has been recovered and necessary legal action is being taken in this regard.’ The next process will be completed after the Railway Police arrives.
