Attack on century-old medical research center in Tehran

The Pasteur Institute of Iran, a century-old medical research institution located in the Iranian capital Tehran, has been attacked. The country’s Health Ministry said the institution was severely damaged in the attack.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour described the attack as a “direct blow to the global health system” in a post on the social media platform ‘X’.
He said the research center, established in 1920, is considered an important pillar in the international health sector. Photos posted on ‘X’ showed large parts of the building reduced to rubble and extensive damage to the infrastructure.
