A mother of three was allegedly raped on the pretext of marriage in Kashiani, Gopalganj. A case has been filed against two people in this incident. The incident took place at ‘Kutumbari Hotel and Restaurant’ in Gopalpur Bazar of the upazila. The victim woman has filed a case with the Gopalganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal as the plaintiff in this incident. The court has registered the case and ordered legal action to be taken.
The accused are – Majnu Molly (40), son of Siddique Molly of Gopalpur village of the upazila, and Rakib Molly (33), son of Hero Molly of Pona village.
According to the details of the case, both the accused Rakib Molly and the victim were working as employees at ‘Kutumbari Hotel and Restaurant’. Rakib proposed an immoral relationship to the woman on the pretext of marriage. When the woman did not agree, he started looking for an opportunity. At one point, on March 14, Rakib took her to a secluded room of the hotel on the pretext of cleaning the house. There, with the help of hotel owner Majnu Moliya, Rakib forcibly raped the woman. Rakib is the brother-in-law of hotel owner Majnu Moliya’s sister. When the incident came to light, the woman tried to commit suicide by consuming alcohol, fearing public shame and social humiliation. Hotel owner Majnu Moliya himself rescued her in a serious condition and quickly took her to the Kashiani Upazila Health Complex. There, her stomach was washed. After recovering, the victim decided to take legal action.
Yesterday, Sunday (March 29), the plaintiff’s lawyer, Advocate Sajeeb Sardar, confirmed the filing of the case. He said, “The woman was raped by trickery and deception with the lure of marriage. We have sought justice from the court. The court has taken cognizance of the case and directed the next steps.”
When asked about the incident, accused Majnu and Rakib denied the allegations, saying, “The incident is completely false and baseless.” Kashiani Police Station OC Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said, “The copy of the court order has not reached us. We will take further action after receiving the documents.”
