Illegally stockpiling oil: 150 liters of diesel seized in Gaibandha, two traders fined
A mobile court has conducted a drive in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on charges of illegally stockpiling fuel oil and selling it at high prices in the open market. The drive was conducted in the Kamdia Bazar area of the upazila around 11 pm yesterday, Saturday (March 28). Two unscrupulous traders were fined a total of Tk 40,000 and 150 liters of diesel were seized.
According to mobile court sources, the drive was conducted to prevent an artificial fuel crisis and control the market. In the drive, grocery shopkeeper Alam Mia was fined Tk 10,000 for illegally stockpiling oil and 150 liters of diesel were seized from his shop.
In addition, Badsha Mia, the owner of a mini filling station named ‘Ms.’, was fined. Asha Enterprise was fined Tk 30,000 for selling fuel oil with an expired license and dishonestly.
Executive Magistrate Tamshid Iram Khan said the sentence was passed after receiving specific information about illegal storage and sale of oil in violation of the Petroleum Act. The seized oil has been taken into government custody and such operations will continue in the public interest.
