No reason to worry about oil: Energy Minister
Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku said that there is sufficient oil reserves. However, there is a slight delay in supply as buyers have stocked up on excess oil. He said this while talking to reporters at his office at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 24) morning.
The Energy Minister said that there is no reason to worry about oil. There is sufficient reserves. Therefore, I request the people not to stock up on excess oil. The country has been facing a fuel oil crisis for the past few weeks due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. The Petrol Pump Owners Association had also expressed fears that the pumps would be temporarily closed due to security concerns.
A temporary oil crisis has arisen due to complications in payment due to the closure of banks and depots during the Eid holidays. However, the pump authorities are hopeful that the crisis will be largely resolved if banking activities normalize today.
