Teacher who cut veins in both legs dies, 2 arrested
Senior teacher Abu Sayeed Mogal (70), who cut veins in both legs in Shibpur, Narsingdi, has died after 18 days of treatment. He breathed his last at the National Orthopedic (Pangu Hospital) in Dhaka on Wednesday (March 11) night. RAB has arrested two brothers from his neighborhood involved in the incident.
They were arrested in a joint operation by RAB-11 Narsingdi and RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar that night. RAB-11 Narsingdi Camp Commander and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Ariful Islam confirmed the matter through a press release.
Earlier, on the morning of February 19, retired senior teacher Abu Sayeed Mogal’s neighborhood, Swapan Mogal and his brother Kiran Mogal, cut veins in both legs due to a land dispute. The day after the incident, when rumors of the teacher’s death spread, angry locals vandalized and set fire to the houses of Swapan Mogol and Kiran Mogol, who were involved in the incident. Meanwhile, teacher Abu Sayeed Mogol’s daughter has filed a case with Shibpur Model Police Station over the cutting of a vein in her leg. RAB-11 Camp Commander Md. Ariful Islam told us that after their arrest in Cox’s Bazar, Swapan Mogol and his brother Kiran Mogol were handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station at the request of Shibpur Model Police Station.
