Driver killed and van hijacked in Bogra
A driver named Mojam Uddin Shah (55) was killed and a battery-powered autovan was hijacked in Dupchanchia, Bogra. The incident took place on Tuesday (February 24) night in a paddy field next to the Dupchanchia-Akkelpur road in the Bariya area of Zianagar union of the upazila.
On Wednesday afternoon, Dupchanchia police station OC Afzal Hossain said that the driver was killed by hitting him on the head and then his body was thrown into the water. The body has been sent to the morgue. Preparations for the case are underway.
Police and relatives said that the deceased autovan driver Mojam Uddin Shah is the son of the deceased Mohir Uddin Shah of Jhalgharia village of Zianagar union of Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra. Yesterday afternoon, he left his home with the autovan as usual to transport passengers. At some point in the night, the miscreants hit his head and threw his body into the water of a paddy field near a bridge under construction in the Bariya area of Zianagar Union Parishad on the Dupchanchia-Akkelpur road. Then they fled with the autovan.
This morning, passersby saw the body and informed the police. Later, the Dupchanchia police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMEC) Hospital. He had injury marks on his head and various parts of his body.
The OC said that the miscreants hit the driver Mozam Uddin Shah on the head to rob the autovan. Then they threw his body into the water of a paddy field near the bridge. His autovan was not found. The body has been sent to the morgue. Investigation and preparation for a case are underway in this regard. A drive to arrest the murderers is underway.
