Youth dies in hospital after being beaten on suspicion of theft

A youth named Abdur Rahim (35) died after being beaten on suspicion of theft in the Postogola crematorium area of ​​Shyampur police station in the capital. He was taken to the hospital in a serious condition and died while undergoing treatment. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Sunday (February 22) inside the new project of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority in the Postogola crematorium area.
According to eyewitnesses, while stealing rods in the project area, local people caught him and beat him. He was seriously injured. Later, at around 12:30 pm, Abdur Rahim was brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an injured condition. He died there at 5:30 am today, Monday while undergoing treatment at the One Stop Emergency Center.
Biplob, project site engineer of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, who brought him to the hospital, said that he was caught around 10:30 pm and beaten by local people while stealing rods inside the project. He was seriously injured. He was later rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp In-charge (Inspector) Md. Faruk confirmed the death, quoting a doctor. He said the body has been kept in the morgue of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
