Traders protest with sticks in protest of attack in Karwan Bazar
A group of miscreants attacked a human chain of traders against extortion in Karwan Bazar in the capital. Later, a chase and counter-chase took place between both sides. Traders protested with sticks in protest of the attack. In addition, police and army have been deployed in the Karwan Bazar area to control the law and order situation. The attack took place in front of the Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market at around 11:15 am today, Monday (December 29).
It is learned that after the attack on the human chain of traders, traders came in front of the Kitchen Market with sticks and the attackers fled from there. Then the traders protested in front of the Kitchen Market with sticks. Tension prevailed in the area for some time due to this incident.
Regarding the attack on the human chain, traders said that since August 5, expelled Jubo Dal leader Abdur Rahman has been collecting extortion from traders in Karwan Bazar. In protest against this, the traders organized a human chain. However, Abdur Rahman’s people attacked them with sticks and sticks. Later, all the traders of the market came down and chased the attackers.
The traders claimed that they were attacked in front of the police. The traders took out a protest march and warned that if Abdur Rahman was not arrested within the next 24 hours, they would close their shops and take to the streets.
Tejgaon Police Station Inspector (Operations) Abdul Hannan said that the traders of Karwan Bazar were forming a peaceful human chain against a person named Abdur Rahman. They have done such human chains before. The police were also present during today’s human chain. Suddenly, some people came and tried to take away their banners. At that time, there was a scuffle between the two sides. Later, there was a chase and counter-chase. Currently, the situation is under control.
