Judicial system will be more reliable through transparency and accountability: Chief Justice
Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed has said that the judicial system of Bangladesh will be made more reliable to the people through transparency and accountability. He said this at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Supreme Court Day today, Thursday (December 18).
The Chief Justice said that the courts are conducting judicial proceedings based on the fundamental rights and fairness of the Constitution. The Supreme Court is in a commendable position in the Asian subcontinent by conducting legal proceedings in accordance with international standards in addition to the domestic legal system. Judges of the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh were present at the event.
Earlier, on the last working day of the Chief Justice today, the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Court Bar Association gave him a farewell reception at the Appellate Division. Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court Divisions, tribunal judges, lawyers and officials of the Supreme Court Secretariat were present at the time. The country’s 25th Chief Justice, Syed Refaat Ahmed, is retiring on the 27th. However, his last working day was Thursday, as he was on leave at the Supreme Court at that time.
