Israeli attacks, Gaza death toll surpass 70,000 despite ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire, the occupying Israeli army continues its assault on the besieged Gaza Strip. Many Palestinians are being killed every day in drone strikes, airstrikes and shelling in various areas. As a result, the death toll in the Gaza Strip during the Israeli aggression, which has been ongoing for more than two years, has exceeded 70,000, the Gaza Health Ministry said. Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported this information in a report.
According to the report, at least 70,100 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the Israeli aggression began on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday (November 29). More than 170,900 people have been injured in this barbaric aggression. This tragic milestone in the loss of life in Gaza comes at a time when Israel continues to carry out new attacks almost daily, despite a US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas last month.
Meanwhile, two Palestinian children were killed in a drone strike in the town of Bani Sufailah, east of Khan Yunis, yesterday morning, medical workers said. Witnesses told Al Jazeera that a drone bomb was dropped on civilians near the Al-Farabi School. The two brothers, Juma and Fadi Tamer Abu Assi, were killed. They were taken to the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis in critical condition, where doctors later pronounced them dead.
Israeli forces launched a fresh offensive on various parts of Gaza yesterday from three directions – land, sea and air. Medical sources said that at least three Palestinians were injured in Israeli shelling and bombing in the Al-Qarara area, northeast of Khan Yunis.
Israeli airstrikes also hit the Tufah area, east of Gaza City, yesterday morning. There were also strikes east of Rafah to the south. Earlier in the day, the Nasr Medical Complex reported that a Palestinian was killed in an Israeli drone strike outside the Yellow Line in Bani Sufayla. Ismail al-Thawabta, director general of the Gaza government’s media office, said last Friday that Israel had violated the ceasefire 535 times since it began.
