Bhutanese Prime Minister arrives in Dhaka
Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay arrived in Dhaka today on a state visit. He was accorded a red carpet welcome. The Bhutanese Prime Minister landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:15 am on Saturday (November 22) in a DrukAir flight. During the visit, ‘three agreements and a memorandum of understanding’ will be signed between the two countries.
During this time, the two leaders held a brief meeting at the airport’s VIP lounge. There, Prime Minister Tobgay inquired about the damage and loss of life in Friday’s earthquake and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
After the meeting, Prime Minister Tobgay was taken to the temporary salute stage, where he was given a 19-gun salute and a guard of honor. The Bhutanese Prime Minister then left for Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs at the National Memorial. He will lay a wreath at the memorial and sign the visitors’ book. In the afternoon, Bangladesh’s Foreign and Trade Advisers will meet the Bhutanese Prime Minister. Later, at around 3 pm, he will have a private meeting with Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Principal Adviser’s office in Tejgaon. In the evening, a state dinner has been organized in his honour.
