Awami League leader raises slogans in BNP’s joyous procession
BNP has nominated Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan for the Tangail-8 (Basail-Sakhipur) constituency. Immediately after this, his followers took out a joyous procession. However, Awami League Union President Nazrul Islam, who has been banned from the procession, was seen raising various slogans in favor of BNP. A video of such a video has gone viral on social media. There has been a storm of criticism for allowing an Awami League leader to participate in the BNP procession. Many are expressing anger over the matter.
Locals said that the name of BNP’s National Executive Committee Vice Chairman Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan was announced to participate in the national parliamentary elections in Tangail-8 (Basail-Sakhipur) constituency last Monday (November 3). That night, a joyous procession was taken out in the Sunya Madhyapara and Purbapara areas of Ward No. 9 of Kauljani Union in the upazila, led by Union BNP member and Sunya Abbasia High School Management Committee President Ruknuzzaman and Union BNP Vice-President Abdul Karim. Kauljani Union Awami League President Nazrul Islam was also seen raising various slogans in favor of BNP in the procession.
At that time, locals recorded a video of the procession and posted it on social media Facebook. The video went viral in an instant. In this context, Kauljani Union BNP member Ruknuzzaman said, “He was not asked to come to the procession. He suddenly participated in the procession. Nazrul Islam is not a BNP member. He has served as the president of the union Awami League.”
Awami League Kauljani Union President and Sunya Abbasia High School Principal Nazrul Islam admitted to raising slogans in the procession and said, “I went to the procession at the request of BNP leader Ruknuzzaman.”
