Delhi Red Fort car blast: Government says terror attack
The Indian government has declared the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort as a ‘terror attack’. A resolution in this regard was passed in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday (November 12). Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the car blast near the Red Fort on Monday (November 10) witnessed a brutal terrorist attack by anti-state forces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and discussed the progress of the investigation. The cabinet’s resolution was then passed.
Ashwini Vaishnav said that the cabinet has directed that the investigation into the incident be carried out with utmost urgency and professionalism, so that the perpetrators, their associates and sponsors are expeditiously identified and brought to justice. He said the cabinet strongly condemned the “brutal and cowardly” attack and reiterated India’s “zero tolerance policy” against terrorism.
