‘All the ongoing crises in the country are dramas’ – BNP Secretary General Mirza
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has referred to all the ongoing crises in the country as ‘drama’. He made these comments at a BNP-organized view-exchange meeting at Jagannathpur Union in Thakurgaon on Sunday (November 9) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘All the crises you are seeing in the country are fabricated dramas. The people do not understand them. They only want to vote – I will give my vote, I will give it to whoever I want. This government is not of the people, they do not understand the people’s suffering.’
Like-minded political parties including NCP and Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh have demanded a referendum and the implementation of the July Charter before the elections. However, the BNP Secretary General has also questioned the acceptability of these demands.
He said, ‘A referendum should be held on the day of the election. Do we understand the referendum charter? The people do not understand them. Educated people understand them. I am ready to accept all kinds of reforms, but what I will not accept will be passed in the parliament.’
Mirza Fakhrul, seeking votes in the upcoming elections, said, ‘You know, here too the scales are being chosen. You have to choose between a sheaf of rice and a scale. This is my last election. After this, I will not have the power to make any other decision. So, support me by voting for a sheaf of rice in my last election.’
