Palestinian woman who waited 23 years after release marries
Recently, more than 250 Palestinians were released in Gaza as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal. One of the newly released Palestinians is Akram Abu Bakr.
The occupying Israel sentenced him to three life sentences. He was recently released after serving many years in prison.
Not only that, he also got married in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
However, the most surprising and amazing news is that the new bride is the woman whom Abu Bakr divorced 23 years ago as a reward for his deep love and affection.
But the woman did not accept that divorce. She had been waiting for Akram Abu Bakr’s release with patience and faith for 23 years.
After his recent release under the prisoner exchange deal, Akram Abu Bakr remarried his ex-wife in a small ceremony in Cairo.
He himself divorced his wife 23 years ago so that she would not have to live a miserable life as a prisoner’s wife.
But the woman did not forget her husband; she spent 23 years of her life with steadfast love, hoping for his return. When Akram Abu Bakr was finally released, she went to Cairo to welcome him.
Akram Abu Bakr, a resident of Tulkarm, Palestine, was deported to Egypt from an Israeli prison after his release. At the age of 50, he saw his faithful wife in Cairo and immediately decided to remarry her.
This unique reunion coincided with the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of about 250 Palestinian prisoners, which became a symbol of hope and victory for the Palestinians.
