Not going to a movement together, don’t want PR in the lower house: Nahid Islam
National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said, we are not going to a movement together. Because NCP does not want PR in the lower house.
He said these things at the party’s coordination meeting at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Center in the capital on Friday (September 19) afternoon. Nahid Islam said, we do not want to form any alliance with a major political party at this moment. The National Citizen Party will move forward with independent political objectives.
Terming the election results of the NCP-supported panels in DUCSU and JACSU as unfortunate, the NCP convener said, “We had expected that student leadership would develop from the universities. But the panels we supported could not give the expected results. So we are thinking among ourselves, what happened in this one year, why we could not, where were our failures. We have to self-criticize and self-evaluate. We could not achieve the strength we were supposed to have in terms of organization.”
Nahid Islam said, “We will go to every upazila to strengthen the party’s foundation. Our program called ‘Uttan Baithak’ is ongoing. We will deliver the 24-point program that the Jatiya Nagorik Party has taken to the doorsteps of the people.”
Members of the NCP’s central convening committee, leaders of organizational organizations and coordinators of district, metropolitan, upazila and thana committees were present at the coordination meeting.
