BSF pushes 18 more people into Bangladesh

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 18 more people into Gangni in Meherpur. On Tuesday (July 29) afternoon, BGB camp members arrested them from the Kazipur border pillar 145 area of the upazila. The arrested are – Ujirmani Idris Ali son of Ikramul Islam (55) of Baliadangi police station in Thakurgaon district, A. Quader son of Hasirul (28) of Chachpara village in the same upazila, Subhan Ali son of Shah Alam (18) of Barisa village, A. Hamid son of Zakir Ali (25) of Kachkali Bhanu village, Ibrahim son of Uchirul (28) of Gherbari village, Fatema (40) daughter of deceased Ishaq of Ratandighi village, Akbar Ali son of Sohel (32) of Balatcha village in Ranishankail upazila, Salim Uddin son of A. Quader (30), Raj Sheikh son of Kanchanpur village of Kalia upazila of Narail district, Mohasin Sheikh (31), Tutul Mandal (55) of Kathadur village of Sadar police station. There are also: Barkat Sheikh (22), son of Siddique Sheikh of Kalia upazila, Tuhin Sheikh (26), son of Ilias Sheikh of Hidia village of Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore district, Moyna (22), daughter of Ilias Molla of the same village, Lata (24), daughter of Ekram Hossain of Lauhati village of Dighilia upazila of Khulna district, and Tania Khatun (28), daughter of Chattar Hossain of Gauchia village of Rupganj in Narayanganj. BGB Kazipur Company Commander Nayek Subedar Habibur Rahman said that after Tuesday afternoon, the BSF opened the barbed wire fence and forced them to enter Bangladesh. After that, the BGB was able to arrest 18 people. The detainees said that they were all Bangladeshis. They had gone to India illegally in search of work at different times. The BSF arrested them, gathered them at the Kazipur border and pushed them towards Bangladesh. Their homes are in Khulna, Jessore, Narail and Thakurgaon districts. Later, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested them. Of these, nine were detained at the Kazipur camp, three at the Sheoratola camp and six at the Mathurapur camp. Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Boni Israel said that if the BGB hands them over, their identities will be verified and further legal action will be taken.
