Sufi saint Mohammad Mizanur Rahman a shining example of humanity. Born on March 12, 1943 in Kanchangram, Rupganj Upazila, Narayanganj District. He spent most of his life in Chittagong. He is working for the people of Chittagong. He is contributing to the economy of Bangladesh. His father, Alhaj Sufi Mohammad Dayem Uddin was a farmer. He used to grow golden crops in the fields of the village drenched in the sun and rain, spreading the fragrance of humanity in the rich soil of Kanchangram. His mother, the late Rahatun Nesa Begum was a housewife.
Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman turned 83 this year. With increasing age the love of millions of people and some adjectives have been associated with the name Mizanur Rahman. He has inked countless tilaks of success on his forehead. He received the Ekushey Padak from the Bangladesh government in 2020 for his special contribution to social service.

In 1965, he joined the Laldighi branch of the then National Bank of Pakistan in Chittagong as a junior clerk. From 1967 to 1971, he worked as the manager of the foreign department of Eastern Mercantile Bank Limited.
When Sufi Mizanur Rahman started his business after 1971, he had only 1483 taka. This businessman, who started his business with such a small amount of capital, not only developed himself as a businessman in the past half century; he also developed his children. Sufi Mizan’s 8 children are enviable in education and knowledge today. Out of these, four children are serving as honorary consuls in Bangladesh for different countries.
Although four of the sons received higher education from Australia and the remaining three from the United States, none of them have stayed abroad. They returned to Chittagong, to their parents, to their family. After returning home, they took over the institutions built by their father. They opened new doors of possibilities. The third generation of the Sufi family has joined them.
Sufi Mizan’s half-century career as a businessman has provided employment to about 10,000 people. Millions of families depend on these 10,000 people for their livelihood. Even though the companies he built have a turnover of five thousand crore taka per year, Sufi Mizan has never forgotten humanity and humanity. The more he has grown in business day by day, the more his reach has increased. The more he has become enriched with the brilliance of humanity.
This is the claim of Amir Hossain Sohel, another son of Sufi Mizanur Rahman. He said that his father often said, ‘Education and experience must be spread among people like petals. If you keep education and experience within yourself, one day they too will die like you. If you want to survive, spread all your achievements to millions of lives.’
Talking about his father, Akhtar Parvez Hiru, another son of Sufi Mizanur Rahman, said, there is a lot to learn from his father. I have learned from my father in every moment of my life – I am still learning.
Industrialist Sufi Mizan, who started his career in industry and commerce in the port city of Chittagong, started his education in Narayanganj. He completed his matriculation from Kanchan Bharat Chandra High School in 1961 and his higher secondary from Government Tolaram College in 1963. Later, Sufi Mizan completed his B.Com degree from Tolaram College and completed his diploma in banking.
In his personal life, Mizanur Rahman married Tahmina Rahman on July 4, 1967. The couple is the father of seven sons and one daughter. Sufi Mizan likes to call his wife Tahmina Rahman a noble woman. Even after 58 years of married life, the couple still appears hand in hand at various events. They are always together.
Calling on the youth to be responsible towards their parents, youth idol Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that as they grow older, relationships start to loosen due to busyness. Family relationships should be held tightly.
