Bangladeshi workers will be able to go to Lebanon again
The suspension order on sending workers from Bangladesh to Lebanon has been withdrawn. As a result, Bangladeshi workers will now be able to go to Lebanon again.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment lifted the suspension order on Tuesday. This information was given in a message from the Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon on Wednesday.
The embassy said that permission has been given to send workers to Lebanon subject to conditions. The conditions are- 1. Each request must be attested by the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut. 2. Workers must be sent to areas other than the southern part of Lebanon bordering Israel, subject to suitable working conditions.
Last year, due to the war situation on the Lebanon-Israel border, sending workers from Bangladesh to the country was stopped. This instruction was given in a notification from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment on August 13 last year. However, recently, the Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the war situation in Lebanon has now improved. The situation is returning to normal in various areas. In that context, workers can currently be sent from Bangladesh to that country. The final decision to send workers was made regarding this proposal from Beirut.
