Cultural advisor explains why Abrar Fahad is being given the Independence Medal

Abrar Fahad, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), who died, is being awarded the country’s highest civilian honor, the Swadhinata Award. This information was given by Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Monday.

Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui, Cultural Advisor to the Interim Government, has clarified why Abrar is being awarded the Swadhinata Award posthumously.

Farooqui raised this issue in a status posted on his verified Facebook today. His status is given below:

This year’s Swadhinata Award will be as unique as the Ekushey Padak. After Abrar Fahad’s words spread on social media in any way, many journalist brothers and sisters have wanted to know the truth of it. The answer for all of them – wait a little, you will know the full list. You will see all the extraordinary names.

Now, let’s come to the real reason for writing this post. As Abrar Fahad’s name comes to the fore, I see enthusiastic praise from people of all walks of life, as well as an incomprehensible question from people of a certain group, ‘What consideration should be given to Abrar Fahad for the Independence Medal?’

Without explaining what consideration should be given, I want to say in which category it should be given. Only then will the answer to why it should be given be found. My personal opinion is that Abrar Fahad’s category should be ‘Liberation War’! The result of the Liberation War is independence. The main condition for independence is sovereignty. And the vanguard of sovereignty is Abrar Fahad.

Abrar Fahad is a symbol, whose power if you cannot guess, then I would say go back to July. Go and listen to the chest of youth. The name of the one whose breath you will hear is Abrar Fahad.
