    UN recommends abolishing RAB

    The UN Human Rights Office has recommended the abolition of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), the national telecommunications surveillance agency. It has also recommended limiting the activities of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI).

    These recommendations were made in a fact-finding report on human rights violations and torture related to the July coup on Wednesday.

    The UN investigation team has made about 50 recommendations to ensure accountability and justice and find the root cause of the problem.

    The recommendation says that all cases of extrajudicial killings and disappearances must be investigated in an impartial, effective, and impartial manner. It has recommended the abolition of RAB and NTMC. The report, recommending the abolition of NTMC, says that the organization has curtailed the personal freedoms of citizens.
