Iranian pop artist sentenced to death.

A court in Iran has sentenced pop artist Amir Hossein Maghsud to death on charges of blasphemy. Local media reports said on Sunday that Amir Hossein was previously sentenced to five years in prison on charges of blasphemy. After an appeal, the Supreme Court sentenced him to death. This information was revealed in a report by the Middle East-based media outlet Gulf News.

The report said, “The previous case has been reopened. This time, he has been sentenced to death on charges of insulting the Prophet (PBUH).”

The 37-year-old pop artist, also known as Tatalu, had been living in Istanbul, Turkey, since 2018. However, Turkish police extradited him to Iran in December 2023. He has been imprisoned in Iran since then.

The death sentence is not yet final. He can appeal against the verdict if he wants. He was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison for spreading obscenity and encouraging prostitution.

Tatalu is known for his rap and pop songs. In 2015, Tatalu released a song in support of Iran’s nuclear program. The song was canceled in 2018 during Donald Trump’s first term as president.
