    The editor of Jugantor is poet Abdul Hai Sikder.

    Poet, writer and journalist Abdul Hai Sikder has been appointed as the editor of the Daily Jugantor. He officially took charge at the Jugantor office on Wednesday afternoon.

    At the time, Jamuna Group Chairman and Jugantor Publisher Advocate Salma Islam, Jamuna Group Managing Director Shamim Islam, Group Directors Monika Naznin Islam, Sumaiya Rosalin Islam and SM Abdul Wadud welcomed him.

    At the time, Jamuna Television CEO Fahim Ahmed, Daily Jugantor Deputy Editors Ahmed Dipu, Ehsanul Haque Babu, BM Jahangir and Asif Rashid, Chief News Editor Abdur Rahman, City Editor Mizan Malik, Chief Correspondent Masud Karim, along with all the department heads and senior journalists of Jugantor were present.

    Earlier in the morning, Abdul Hai Sikder paid floral tributes at the grave of late Jamuna Group Chairman and freedom fighter Nurul Islam at the Banani graveyard and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased’s soul. Abdul Hai Sikder replaced the recently departed editor of the newspaper, Saiful Alam.

    Poet Abdul Hai Sikder is known as a prominent journalist and organizer in Bangladesh. He is one of the members of the management committee of the National Press Club. He is the two-time elected president of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ). In his 44-year journalism career, he was the founding acting editor of the first regular literary monthly of Bangladesh after independence, ‘Ekhon’, senior assistant editor of Amar Desh Patrika, head of the feature department of the country’s government news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), feature editor and assistant editor of Daily Inqilab, senior assistant editor of Times Bangla Trust’s magazine ‘Bichitra’, assistant editor and literary editor of Daily Millat Patrika, assistant editor, senior associate editor and reporter of Saptahik Sachitra Swadesh. He is also known as a renowned columnist.

    Abdul Hai Sikder was forced to stay out of journalism for the past 15 years due to the wrath of the ousted Awami League government. Apart from journalism, Abdul Hai Sikder is known as a poet, writer and Nazrul researcher in the country and abroad. He was the executive director of the Nazrul Institute. He is a TV presenter and a popular discussant of the country’s contemporary programs. He is also a professor, children’s writer, cultural organizer and storyteller. He has published over 150 books on poetry, research, children’s literature, stories, politics, culture, film, travel, etc.
