ACC conducts four raids in one day over allegations of irregularities and corruption.
The ACC conducted 4 raids in different parts of the country yesterday, including Titas Gas Company, on allegations of irregularities and corruption. The agency’s Deputy Director (Public Relations) Akhtarul Islam said that the ACC’s Dhaka-2 Integrated District Office conducted a raid against some unscrupulous officials of Titas Gas in the Savar area of Dhaka in response to allegations of illegal gas connections in the Savar area. At that time, relevant records were collected from the Titas Gas office in Savar. More than 110 illegal gas connections were found after visiting different areas of Savar. They were later disconnected.
In addition, the ACC’s Gazipur District Office conducted another raid against some unscrupulous officials of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company in Gazipur in response to allegations of illegal gas connections in exchange for bribes. During this time, about 40 illegal connections were disconnected at the North Bilashpur and Chandana intersections in Gazipur Sadar and the Titas authorities were informed to take legal action against the illegal connection users.
During the operation, the initial truth was found regarding the allegations of negligence of duties by the officers and employees of Gazipur Titas Gas Company. Meanwhile, the ACC’s Gopalganj district office conducted a drive against the employees and teachers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Gopalganj on charges of various irregularities and corruption. The drive found the initial truth of widespread irregularities and embezzlement of government funds in the purchase of furniture, purchase of additional benches than required, and purchase of low-quality goods.
The drive found that the university’s two water treatment plants are closed, one of which has low-quality equipment and pipes. Initial evidence was found of the collusion of teachers and officials in appointing people to the post of section officer by violating the conditions (age above 32). Apart from this, the initial truth of the allegations of paying additional bills to the contractor without completing the beautification work of the coffee house and lakeside, committing financial irregularities without completing the construction of the main gate of the university even though the work started 7-8 years ago, widespread irregularities and corruption in the construction of murals, and acquiring illegal wealth through widespread irregularities in purchasing by the temporarily suspended deputy director has been found.
Meanwhile, in the wake of allegations of bribery and other irregularities by the audit team to cover up irregularities in the Dinajpur Education Board, the Dinajpur District Office of the ACC conducted a drive. The initial truth of the bribery was found in the drive. Various records related to various irregularities in purchasing were collected. The enforcement team will submit a report to the commission after verifying all the information collected during these drives.
