France’s new Prime Minister is François Bayrou.
François Bayrou is the new Prime Minister of France. On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the head of the country’s political party, the Democratic Movement, as the new Prime Minister of France. It was reported by British media, BBC.
Ex-French Prime Minister Michel Barnier was ousted in the lack of confidence vote by oppositions in parliament on 4th December. François Bayrou is taking the latter’s position as the new Prime Minister a week since Barnier’s departure. The first order of business for the 73-year-old Bayrou will be to push through special legislation to make way for the budget proposed in parliament in 2024. Government and opposition MPs are fighting over the issue in parliament, for which Berniec had to leave.
It follows because of the balance of power under the French system of governance from the president to the prime minister. Bayrou is already known to be close to Macron.
Secondly, there are lawmakers of all parties in the country’s parliament – hard right, left and centrist. Bayrou is known as a centrist politician.
