Seven cases are ongoing in Bapex as serious audit objections. The shortage of goods in the warehouse caused a loss of 1.4 million taka. As a result, a case is underway against those responsible. In addition, a case of 1.7 million taka is ongoing due to the shortage of goods in 179 items. Goods disappeared from the central warehouse in Chittagong. In addition, a case is ongoing for paying salaries and allowances to those responsible despite being temporarily suspended twice for embezzling government goods from the central warehouse.
Another case is ongoing in the company for not collecting compensation despite the theft of goods from the warehouse. Other cases of Bapex include causing a loss of about 1.8 million taka by removing or removing goods from the central warehouse, shortage of medicines in the medical store, and embezzlement of about 30 million taka by five officials at different levels of Bapex by creating fake bill vouchers in procurement.
A senior official of Petrobangla told our time in this regard, our government management is very complex. Some audit objections continue for years. However, the government has a separate audit office. He said that in the last 15 years, thousands of crores of taka have been done in companies under the Fuel Department. There have been many mismanagement and irregularities in these works. As a result, audit objections are natural. But even if these audit objections are raised, there is no initiative to resolve them. As a result, they continue for years.
The official said that if the Audit Department had honestly analyzed the financial matters related to the government, irregularities in government procurement would have reduced a lot.
