We may see a political government next year: Planning Advisor.
Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Advisor to the Ministry of Planning and Education of the interim government, said, ‘We are a very short-lived government. I personally think that we may see a politically elected government next year. This is my personal opinion, I don’t know what will happen.’
He said these things at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) Annual Development Conference at a hotel in the capital today, Saturday.
The Planning Advisor said, people’s money is in the bank, but the bank’s money has gone out. Many big companies have money on their balance sheets, but in reality there is no money inside the country.
Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud said, ‘Quality education is needed to eliminate inequality, which Bangladesh is far from. However, discussions are ongoing to continue the facilities and benefits available from developed countries. Many countries have responded positively.’
At this time, World Bank Chief Economist Indermit S. Gill advised to focus more on investment and job creation to avoid the middle-income trap. And the World Bank urged to pay special attention to creating entrepreneurs and increasing the use of technology in this campaign.
