Protest at RU in protest of lawyer’s murder, demand to ban ISKCON.
Protest and a silent funeral program were held at Rajshahi University in protest of the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam in Chittagong. Yesterday, Tuesday, around 10 pm, several hundred students of the university held this program.
Earlier, the protest procession started at 9:15 pm and circled various roads of the campus.
Slogans were raised in the procession, including one two three four ISKCON, you leave the country, action two action, direct action, who are you, who are I, Saiful Saiful, hit ISKCON on both cheeks with shoes, rhythmically, ISKCON has no place on Bengal soil, I want justice, I want justice, ISKCON has no place on Bengal soil, militant militant ISKCON, we will peel off the skin of ISKCON, I want execution, I want execution, I want Chinmoy’s execution, etc.
Salauddin Ammar, coordinator of the student movement against discrimination, said at the rally, “There was equal participation of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and everyone else in the anti-dictatorship movement. Hindus are safe for us. Muslims after the July Revolution were guarding Hindu temples. Today’s program is against the extremist ISKCON community, not against any other Hindu community. We see Hindus and ISKCON communities differently. We want justice for the fratricide. He also warned of another struggle against this ISKCON in the interest of keeping the country stable.
It is worth noting that on Tuesday, in Chittagong, there was a massive clash between law enforcement and people from the Sanatani community over the arrest and denial of bail of Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu Brahmachari, leader of the International Krishna Bhavana Sangha (ISKCON) and spokesperson of the Sanatan Jagran Mancha, and at one point, a lawyer named Saiful Islam was hacked to death by Chinmoy’s followers. He died on the spot.
