Protest at BAU for lawyer Saiful’s murder.
Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAKU) have staged a protest rally demanding a fair trial and investigation into the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam, a member of the Chittagong District Bar Association, at the hands of supporters of the ISKCON organization.
The students held the protest rally at the university’s Abdul Jabbar intersection at 10:30 pm on Tuesday. During this time, they raised various slogans, including “Stop Indian aggression, stop it, Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka or Dhaka, brokerage or highway, highway highway, the address of extremism will not be in this Bengal and Hindu Muslim brothers, ISKCON has no protection.”
The students expressed deep concern in the protest and said, “The defeated fascist forces are still conspiring against our society and drawing a blueprint of hostility. They are repeatedly trying to incite communal riots. As part of this, an attempt has been made to create communal tension by killing lawyer Saiful Islam in Chittagong today. We strongly condemn this brutal murder and demand a fair trial for this murder from the administration.’
The students also said, ‘It is very important to stop such attempts for peace and harmony in the country. We call on everyone to unite and stand against communalism.’
At one stage of the protest, the students announced a long march to the ISKCON temple located behind the university’s Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall, but it was canceled as it was late at night. After the rally, the students announced a new program for the next day, Wednesday.
