Air pollution in Lahore is dire, Dhaka’s air is ‘unhealthy’
Air pollution has emerged as a major problem worldwide, which is increasing day by day. Air pollution in densely populated cities poses a serious threat to public health. This time Dhaka is also a victim of air pollution, but the situation in Lahore, Pakistan is even worse.
Pakistan’s Lahore topped the list published by IQAir, an international air technology organization, at around 9 am on Thursday, with a score of 822. Dhaka is in the sixth position with a score of 165.
At the same time, India’s Delhi ranks second in the list of most polluted cities in the world, with a score of 441. Vietnam’s Hanoi is in the third position with a score of 175 and Egypt’s Cairo is in the fourth position with a score of 168. In addition, Sarajevo of Bosnia and Herzegovina is in fifth place, with a score of 166.
An AQI score of zero to 50 is considered good. 51 to 100 is considered tolerable or moderate. And for sensitive groups, a score of 101 to 150 is considered unhealthy.
151 to 200 is considered unhealthy. Similarly, an AQI score of 201 to 300 is considered very unhealthy. And if it is more than 301 it is considered as disaster.
According to the World Health Organization, air pollution can cause serious diseases such as stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and respiratory complications. About 7 million people die worldwide every year due to this. It poses more serious health risks, especially to children, the elderly and the sick, which has become imperative to control.
