After 3 hours ferry operation on Daulatdia-Paturia route is normal
Due to thick fog, the ferry service was stopped for about 3 and a half hours on Daulatdia-Paturia and Thapara-Nazirganj waterways in Rajbari.
Later, when the fog clears, ferry traffic is normal. Today, Sunday, ferry traffic started around 7:30 am.
According to the Ghat authorities, the density of fog started to increase on the Paturia-Daulatdia route from 2 midnight on Saturday. By 4:00 a.m., when the fog had increased, nothing of Challen’s beacon lights and marking points could be seen. At this time, the BIWTC authorities announced a complete shutdown of ferry traffic to avoid accidents.
4 small and big ferries got stuck in the middle of the river with passengers and vehicles. At this time, more than five hundred vehicles were stuck at both the ghats. Passengers and vehicle workers suffered.
A passenger named Azgar Ali said that nothing could be seen due to the fog. You have to suffer when you come to the ghat.
Paturia Ghat AGM Salam said that the ferry service was stopped due to thick fog. After 3 and a half hours after the fog cleared, the ferry was restored to normal. Traffic jam has started to normalize gradually.
