BNP is willing to maintain good relations with the government
BNP will continue with good relations with the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. For this, the party will be careful not to create any distance with this government until the next national elections.
Apart from this, the central leaders of BNP are also saying that if the polls are not organized at a reasonable time, pressure will be created on the government from the streets to demand elections.
Recently, acting chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman also said that BNP thinks that the interim government cannot be allowed to fail in any way. Because the failure of this government will be the failure of democracy and the power of Bangladesh.
So that no one can fail the interim government, the party will be on the field with various programs from the National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. At this time, BNP will conduct organizational restructuring activities to strengthen the Trinamool including Dhaka metropolis.
At the same time, the electoral process will also be visible. Besides, the party will continue to try to maintain the unity of the students and political forces that played a role in the movement to establish democracy and suffrage and the successful uprising of the students in the last July-August.
Analyzing the political situation in the country, member of the National Standing Committee of the BNP, Gayesh Chandra Roy said, “We want to give the interim government a reasonable time to hold the elections.” We hope that the government will use this time properly and complete the reforms and hold elections soon.
Leaders at different levels of BNP are saying that Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country and took up her position in India after resigning in the face of the student uprising, is doing various tricks while sitting there. Awami League leaders and activists under different banners are taking to the streets. Notable among these are the siege of Ansar’s secretariat and ongoing unrest in the garment industry. Since the Yunus government is not being strict considering humanitarian aspects, Awami League is trying to use that opportunity again and again.
The leaders of BNP also said that last Thursday, there was an incident of setting fire to police and army vehicles in Kachukshet area of Mirpur-14 sector of the capital. BNP thinks that Awami League is mainly trying to push the country into an unstable situation by exploiting the dissatisfaction of garment workers. BNP is also suspicious of Jatiya Party’s recent role. The party also does not see well the activities of the Hindu community in Chittagong under the banner of Sanatan Jagran Manch.
In an event last Thursday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Lately, I see that there is an attempt to create a big movement among the people of a community. I don’t know why, India’s statement about the danger of Bangladesh coincides with this movement. Efforts are being made to jeopardize the achievements that have come with the blood of students in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman gave almost a similar speech yesterday. He said, there was a shadow of dark clouds in the sky of our country for 15 and a half years. The cloud has not cleared. We all feel it as conscious citizens. At this time, there is a great need for national unity.
According to BNP sources, BNP is focusing on increasing the unity and organizational strength of the party leaders and workers taking into consideration the situation. Until the election, the party will work on the reorganization to strengthen the Trinamool organizationally, including the capital Dhaka.
According to sources, three district committees have already been abolished. Leaders say that many hybrid leaders have started joining the future prospects of BNP, many beneficiaries of Awami League are changing their shell and want to get involved in BNP politics. Although there are strict instructions from the BNP in this regard, some people are trying to gather sugarcane by making friendship with the responsible leaders of the party by following various rules and regulations.
According to the sources, considering the situation, BNP has taken various initiatives to maintain the unity of the participants of the simultaneous movement. As a part of this, BNP has continued to hold series of meetings. Leaders of BNP’s Liaison Committee have already met with several political parties including 12 Party Alliance, Nationalist Alliance, Ganaforum, People’s Rights Parishad, NDM.
BNP leaders said that they are careful not to create any differences between like-minded political parties and student forces. One group tried to create a divide over the issue of the President’s impeachment. They think that they have successfully overcome that difference.
BNP leaders said, considering the situation, BNP has decided not to keep the highway empty. The party has decided to stay on the field after detailed discussion on this in the meeting of the National Standing Committee recently. As a part of this, BNP has already announced a 10-day program across the country including Dhaka on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7.
According to party sources, a picture of the popularity of the potential candidates in the area can be obtained through these programs. Leaders of the party’s policy-making forum believe that an election process will be visible through this.
