The members of the current committee formed recently to revise the textbook are adding Khaleda Zia’s name there. Apart from this, the name of Ziaur Rahman is being added as the sole announcer of independence.
Note that soon after the Awami League government came to power, revisions were made in the textbooks. In all class books the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a whole is shown in the War of Independence section. Ziaur Rahman’s name was omitted. This time it is not only his name being added; He is also referred to as the sole herald of independence. According to the relevant sources, changes are being made in the articles on the Liberation War. The contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ziaur Rahman, Tajuddin Ahmad, Maulana Bhasani, General Ataul Gani Osmani will be given place as the heroes of the history of 71 years. However, the name of Ziaur Rahman is being kept as the sole announcer of independence. That is, the declaration of independence made by Ziaur Rahman on March 26 is being added. And on March 27, Ziaur Rahman Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence.
A member of the textbook revision committee said that whoever contributed to the liberation war will be highlighted. We have no sympathy for either party. There is no hatred towards anyone. Responsible officials of NCTB said that the interim government took the initiative to accurately highlight the ‘exaggerated history’ of the textbooks and the contribution of the language movement in the liberation war. As a part of it, all textbooks from class I to XII are being revised and revised.
The textbook contains Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech, but the exaggeration is reduced. At the same time, the famous speeches of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela are also kept in the same chapter. The story of ‘Bayanner Dingulo’ written by Bangabandhu in the eleventh class Bengali book will be omitted.
In this regard, NCTB argues that many people contributed more than Bangabandhu to the language movement. Their contribution is omitted in this story. Students will not know the exact history of language movement by reading the story. In view of that, the text has been omitted.
Apart from this, there was an article titled ‘Global Curator’ by Professor Zafar Iqbal in the eleventh class Bengali book. That is also being excluded. Besides, it is known that his writings are completely missing from all the books of various science subjects.
Hasina’s photo will be replaced with graffiti on the cover of the book. During the Awami League era, Sheikh Hasina’s picture and one of her words was added to the back of the textbook. This time it is being omitted in the revision and revision of the book. The back cover of the new textbook will feature graffiti drawn by students around the July-August uprising. There will be essays on martyr Abu Saeed-Mugdhar’s biography and sacrifice.
NCTB Chairman Professor Dr. AKM Riazul Hasan said that a coordination committee was formed. There are some corrections and refinements decided. NCTB officials think that it will be possible to make copies of the issues that will come up and give the books to the printers.
