3 people died in a cylinder explosion
In Keraniganj, Dhaka, a terrible fire occurred due to the explosion of a gas cylinder in Ruhitpur market. Three people died and several were injured in the fire on the spot.
The fire started from a restaurant in Ruhitpur Bazar boarding area under Keraniganj Model Thana around 7 pm on Saturday.
Five shops including two restaurants were burnt to ashes in this incident.
A gas cylinder placed in front of Bismillah Hotel and Restaurant in Ruhitpur market exploded and caught fire instantly after being hit by a covered van going to Nawabganj. At that time, three people including shop employees and customers were trapped inside the hotel.
In-charge of Keraniganj Fire Service, Kajol Miah said, after getting the information about the fire, our two units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control in about an hour. In this incident, the bodies of three people were recovered from inside the hotel. They all burned to death. The extent of the fire damage could not be immediately determined.
When a truck hit the covered van on the busy road, the van fell on the stove of the hotel and the fire started. At that time, the gas cylinder exploded and the fire spread to two nearby hotels and a grocery store.
Two hotels and a grocery store were completely gutted and one hotel was partially gutted. Although three people were killed in the incident, the names of the victims were not immediately known. The situation is currently normal.
