Hurricane Helen rampage, death toll rises to 42
The death toll from Hurricane Helen in 4 US states has risen to 42. Several people are still missing. More than 4 million residents of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are without power due to the storm.
The New York Times reported that the storm caused heavy rainfall and flooding in the states. More than a thousand flights have been cancelled.
The U.S. Weather Service said the hurricane has weakened to a tropical storm and is moving toward Tennessee and Kentucky.
According to the report, Hurricane Helen has weakened to Category 1 after making extensive damage in Florida. Although weakened, it brought heavy rainfall and flooding to Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The situation in North Carolina is worse. The main roads have become impassable due to landslides.
