NBR Chairman warns against tax evasion
National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan has warned that no one will be exempt from tax evasion.
He said this while talking to reporters after launching the e-return service center to facilitate online filing of income tax returns at the Rajswa Bhavan in Agargaon in the capital on Monday.
Abdur Rahman said, “There is a tendency of tax evasion at the individual or institutional level. But from now on, no one will be spared by tax evasion.
He also said, ‘National Board of Revenue is working tirelessly to convert all transactions into digital form so that taxpayers can get fast and quality services.
NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman and European Union Cooperation Head Michel Kreja were present at the time. Then they visited the service center.
Before this, the online return filing website was launched on a large scale on September 9. After that, in 13 days till September 21, the number of online return submissions exceeded 20 thousand, NBR said.
NBR also said that using e-return system upgradation, individual taxpayers can prepare returns themselves, file returns online or take printouts for offline filing of returns, through online banking, credit card/debit card or mobile financial services (Cash, Bikash, Rocket etc.). Get instant proof of payment, return filing, income tax payment certificate and TIN certified, copy of e-return filed for previous tax year, print or download proof of return filing.
Meanwhile, TIN and biometric verified mobile number in the taxpayer’s own name will be required to register in this system.
After the National Board of Revenue launched the e-system in 2021, 61,491 taxpayers filed e-returns in tax year 2021-2022, 2,44,481 in tax year 2022-2023 and 5,26,487 in tax year 2023-2024. .
