    Low pressure in Bay of Bengal

    A low pressure has developed over West Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. In this situation, there is a possibility of wind blowing at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour over 7 regions of the country, said the Meteorological Department. Along with this, the river ports of these regions have been asked to show warning signal number 1.

    The weather forecast given for the inland river ports till 1:00 PM on Monday said that there may be rain or thunder with a speed of 45 to 60 km per hour from south or south-east over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar regions. For this reason, instructions have been given to show warning signal number 1 in the river ports of these areas.

    Apart from this, there is a chance of moderate rain or thundershower with temporary gusty winds at some places of Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at two places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions.     According to the Meteorological Department, Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal.

    Earlier, heavy rainfall occurred in different parts of the country last week under the influence of a deep depression. Due to the slowness of the low pressure, the rain was persistent along the coast for several days.

    Meanwhile, after the rains subsided, the Meteorological Department on September 18 predicted another low pressure soon.

    Between 21st and 22nd September, low pressure will develop over the Bay of Bengal and may increase rains.
